Infectious lung disease usually caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria is a notifiable disease in India. Symptoms or signs suggestive of tuberculosis are cough > 3 weeks, fever > 2 weeks (especially nighttime fever), significant weight loss with loss of appetite, hemoptysis and/or abnormalities in chest radiography.
Investigations:
- AFB Sputum samples on 3 consecutive days
- Chest X ray PA view
- Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT)
Management:
