Prickly heat or heat rash is itchy red rash on the skin due to persistent exposure to hot temperature. Patients present with generalised rash which may occasionally harbour infection especially due to skin damage from itching.
Medications:
- Tab. Okacet (Cetirizine 10 mg) 1 tablet at bed time for 7 days.
- Dusting powder Nycil classic (Chlorphenesin, Zinc oxide) for local application as needed.
- Lotion Lacto-Calamine (Zinc Oxide) at bedtime for local application.
- Tab. Limcee (vitamin C 500 mg) one tablet twice a day for 7 days.
General advice:
- Stay well hydrated in hot climates
- Avoid tight and synthetic clothing.
- Advice loose clothing to facilitate skin perspiration.
- Air conditioning helps.

Consider referral to dermatologist if patients fail to respond to the above treatments or present with additional complications.
