Symptomatic treatment:

  • Syrup Pantop MPS (Dimethicone, Aluminium hydroxide, milk of magnesia, Sorbitol) – 10 ml one hour after meals thrice a day for 3 days.

Angina To be ruled out in all cases. Central chest pain with no ECG changes
Myocardial infarction To be ruled out in all cases. Central chest pain, radiation to left arm and ECG changes
Gastro-oesophageal reflux Burning sensation in chest, symptoms usually after meals, difficulty in lying flat, acidic taste due to regurgitation
Gastritis Burning sensation in stomach, early satiety, symptoms usually after prolonged fasting
Peptic ulcer disease Dull abdominal ache without rigidity, nausea, vomiting, bloating and excessive burping
Obesity High body mass index, poor dietary choice and lifestyle
Irritable bowel syndrome Bloating, flatulence, diarrhoea and insensitivity to certain foods
Achalasia cardia Difficulty in swallowing solids, food regurgitation and chest pain
Ascites Distended abdomen with no rigidity, evidence of fluid collection in peritoneum and underlying pathology
