Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease characterized by patches of red, flaky, crusty skin covered by silvery scales. Patients often present with symptoms around superficial joints and can be associated with psoriatic arthritis.
Medications:
Acute psoriasis
- Cap. Doxt SL (Doxycycline 100mg, Lactobacillus 5 billion spores) – 1 capsule twice a day for 10 days.
- Cream Moisturex (Urea, Lactic acid, Propylene glycol ) to be applied twice a day for 14 days.
Chronic Psoriasis
- Lotion Halovate (Halobetasol 0.05% w/v) – apply a thin layer to affected area twice a day for 4 weeks.
- After 4 weeks – Ointment Pasitrex (Calcipotriol 0.005%) – gently rub onto the affected areas twice a day for 8 weeks.
Investigations:
The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical assessment.

Consider referring to dermatologist if patients fail to respond to treatments or presents with additional complications.
