Dysmenorrhea is cramping, colicky or dull pain that usually centers in the lower mid-abdomen, radiating towards the lower back or thighs during menstruation.

Medications:

  • Tab. Cyclopam (Dicyclomine 20 mg, Paracetamol 500 mg) 1 tablet 4 times a day for colicky pain.
  • Tab. Ovral -L (Ethinyl estradiol 0.03mg and Levonorgestrel 0.15 mg) 1 tablet per day from 5th day of menstrual cycle until 25th day (to reduce the flow and associated pain).

General advice:

  • Applying heat pack or hot water bottle to lower abdomen and lower back may help.
